Summary
An octagonal library table, circa 1830, by Edward Holmes Baldock, of walnut and ebony veneer with floral marquetry, the top border incorporating cartouches with crowns, fleur-de-lys and crossed 'L's as per the French royal furniture. The revolving top inset with red leather painted with flowers, above a frieze fitted with six drawers (two simulated), on a pedestal base with scroll-in ends. The four feet each have a brass castor. Each drawer has a key hole
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
