Summary
A carved oak stool. The rectangular top is upholstered in woolen needlework showing two monkeys; one sat holding a pink pomegranate against a tree, the other standing on hind legs holding a tree amidst a landscape of further trees. The landscape is within a border of pink, white, blue flowers and foliage, framed around the edge with a pink background. The rails carved with interlaced guilloche and floral guilloche and raised on spiral-turned legs with ball feet and stretchers.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
