Summary
Lid for one of two instand bottles for a boulle two-bottle inkstand with brass centre handle and round ebony feet. Square cut glass ink bottle with a starcut base and protruding cut glass to each side. Circular rim, now damaged. Includes a brass lid (532978.3), circular in shape with inlaid boulle decoration to top and etched intertwined decoration to the side and a cork stopper.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
