Summary
A large blue and white Chinese export goldfish bowls, glazed porcelain, of cistern form, with painted willow pattern landscapes. Mid 18th century. Unpainted dragon/dog of fo faces forming the handles. Originally these would have included ring handles. Plain white interior with signs of use. One of a pair of identical goldfish bowls.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
