Summary
Sword, with gothic gilt, half -basket hilt. Within the hilt is an open work cartouche with a royal cypher. The blade is decorated with floral motifs and the royal cypher. The base of the blade is marked with a 'Star of David' proof button. The sword is inscribed: 'Buckmaster 3 New Burlington St London'. Part of a collection of twelve swords and scabbards.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
