Summary
Lead sculpture, known as Galen, by Andrew Carpenter (c.1677 - London 1737), 1730. A statue standing with his left foot raised up on a rock, his left arm resting on his knee, at his feet a tortoise balances on the rock looking upwards. Mounted on a stone plinth. An alternative identity for the statue put forward by Rupert Harris is a young Hermes, with the missing object being a lyre.
