Summary
A longcase clock. Walnut veneer on oak frame, with pine elements. Eight day twin train movement, made 1740 to 1750 by Richard Smith of Newport, Isle of Wight. Brass break-arch dial. Gilt spandrels: Corners: Urns with floret tips, Arch: Dolphins below rococo decoration. silvered chapter ring. Subsidiary seconds dial below XII and date indicator above VI. Hood: square topped above moulded arch (? truncated caddytop) with brass capped pillars. Pillars on either side of face with arched pediment above, behind which is a square, curved at the front. .
