Summary
Portrait miniature, on lid of composition circular box, King George IV (1762-1830) (after Sir Thomas Lawrence) by Johann Heinrich Stobwasser (1740-1829). Head and shoulders portrait of George IV gazing at the spectator, wearing a dark coat, with fur collar, and hanging from a pink ribbon around his neck if the Order of the Golden Fleece and on the left is the Garter Star. Brown hair in ordered disarray. Letter inside 'Christmas gift to Huttleston from Miles and Peggy, Merton House, Grantchester, Dec 23rd 1965'.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
