Summary
Silver cylindical tankard and cover, on moulded foot with rib round the body and domed cover inset with a James II 5 guinea piece 1686, the body engraved with a coat-of-arms at a later date. 'ARMA JOHANNIS ORRED DE WESTON'. Engraving on lid - hare with 3 wheat ears in mouth between 2 outstretched wings. Engraved on base 'The Gift of In'o Fletcher to his Grandson In'o Orred, Sept 1740'. George II by Richard Bayley 1732. Hallmarked.

John Fletcher John Orred Possibly George Orred David Black of 1 Burlington Gardens, London W1, sold the tankard to Lord Fairhaven on 30 August 1945 for £60, Invoice 2515 (Urban) Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Baron Fairhaven (1896-1966) bequeathed by Lord Fairhaven to the National Trust along with the house and the rest of the contents.
