Summary
Pair of silver 3-light candelabras, circular bases chased with panels of basketwork and shells between scroll borders, stems formed as a group of satyr and nymph supporting vase-shaped sockets with festoons of oak foliage and guilloche rims, each with 3 down-curved berried foliage branches with floral sockets. George III by John Parker and Edward Wakelin 1770. Hallmarked on base. (?previously loaned to Waddesdon Manor).
Provenance
David Black & Sons of 1 Burlington Gardens, London W1, sold the candelabra to Lord Fairhaven on 19 September 1950 for £600, Invoice 1948 (Urban) Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Baron Fairhaven (1896-1966) bequeathed by Lord Fairhaven to the National Trust along with the house and the rest of the contents.
