Summary
A tobacco box, or jar, silver, marked for The Hague, Holland, 1729. The lid topped by a finial formed as a child, smoking a pipe and wearing an East Asian conical hat. Chased and engraved elsewhere with masks, shells, strapwork and folited scrolls, and on four scroll feet.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
