Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Ships at Sea, follower of Charles Brooking (Deptford 1723 – London 1759). Four Ships at Sea with a further two in background. Four sailing ships on a rough sea, with two further ships in the background. Blue cloudy sky. Notes on back of frame indicate that the painting came off the family sailing yacht, the "Sapphire".
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
