Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Tzar Paul I, Tzar of Russia (1754-1801) by Russian School. c.1800. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait, turned three-quarters to the right, head facing, gazing at spectator, wearing the dark blue uniform of the Russian Guards (dark blue with scarlet collar), the riband of St Andrew (blue) and three stars of… Blue eyes, very pale face, fair hair (or wig) with one roll and queue. Sky background. No.18 in Guide 'Small oval miniature of the Emperor Paul. A fine work, French C18. Artist unknown'. Catalogue entry 'Paul, First Emperor of Russia, 1796-1801. Head and shoulders facing, in uniform with three orders and blue ribboned'.

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
