Portrait miniature of Sir Edmund Verney, standard bearer to King Charles I, killed at Edghill. 3/4 face to right, wearing armour. English school after Van Dyke. Oil on copper. Oval in gilt frame. No.9 in Guide 'A miniature oil on copper of Sir Edmund Verney taken from a painting by Van Dyke, probably about 1640. This miniature is painted with extraordinary vigour and, for skill of draughtsmanship as well as richness of colour, is surpassed by few other painted in this medium'.
