Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Fishing Boats on a Choppy Sea by John Wilson Carmichael (Newcastle-upon-Tyne 1800 – Scarborough 1868). Four fishing boats in a choppy sea, one with sail unfurled, all are flying flags, a man with a fishing net on a spit of land on the left, distant view of town and buildings on the far horizon, blue sky with clouds.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
