Summary
Oil painting on panel, Gypsy Encampment with Horse and Donkey by Edmund Bristow (Eton 1787 – Eton 1876). Gypsy encampment, autumn, on the edge of a wood, a horse on the right, turned to the left, in the foreground, centre, a grey donkey and to the left a small dog, in the centre, behind the horse is a small brown tent in front of which, and on the right, sit a gypsy in a red cloak and white bonnet, and behind her is another gypsy standing in a brown cloak and brown bonnet. Russet coloured trees on the right, and a distant landscape shown on the left.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
