Summary
Oil painting on board, A White Horse, with a Groom, and Sheep in a Barn by Edmund Bristow (Eton 1787 – Eton 1876). Interior of a barn with door open, hay stacked in the background, view of tree and sky through door on the left. White horse, saddled, turned to the right, standing on the left, holding the head of the horse is a farmer wearing a blue smock and red cap, a back and white dog has just entered the barn and stands at the back of the horse, in the foreground centre and right are two sheep turned to the right, facing.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
