Summary
Oil painting on panel, Half-figure of a Reclining Female Nude on her Side by William Etty RA (York 1787 – York 1849). Young female nude, half-length, reclining to the right, on a red cushion, resting on her left elbow, looking down, at her left arm, on which is a bracelet, her left hand in the folds of a cream cloth. Her hair is dressed on top with small ringlets falling on her brow and ears. Red cheeks and lips.
Provenance
Reverend C. E. Roe; his nephew R. Gordon Roe; date of acquisition by Lord Fairhaven is unknown; bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
