Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Distant View of Windsor Castle by William Henry Hunt (London 1790 – London 1864), circa 1810. Two youths with eel pots in punt in foreground beneath bank, Windsor on skyline beyond cottages. Gilt frame, labelled 'Windsor c.1810, Exhibited at the British Institution 1811, Egyptian Hall 1814, at the Royal Dublin Society, Fine Arts 1861. From the Greenwood Collection 1875'. One of the last paintings by William Hunt (1790-1864) in oil. It shows the influence of Varley in its luminosity.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
