Portrait miniature, grey shades of watercolour painting on ivory, King Richard III (1452–1485) (after George Vertue after unknown artist of c.1542) by M. Coton (fl.1780-1790). c.1780. Oval. Half-length portrait, turned three-quarters to left, dressed in cap, robes and collar, hands with rings, portrait in a rectangular frame with arched top, lettered RICHARD III / K of ENGLAND, dragon and boar below.In case of miniature paintings of Kings and Queens of England from Richard III to Mary.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
