Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Officer of the Dragoon Guards mounted on his Charger beneath an Arch by Sir Robert Ker Porter (Durham 1777 - St Petersburg 1842). An officer of the Dragoon Guards, mounted on his charger, wearing a scarlet uniform and cocked hat. The brown horse turned three-quarters to the left, head in profile; the officer’s head turned slightly to the right, They stand beneath a stone arch from which foliage is hanging from the top, distant landscape, seen below with large expanse of cloudy sky.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
