Summary
Oil painting on panel, French Cuirassier, manner of Théodore Géricault (Rouen 1791 – Paris 1824). A French Cuirassier, full-length, seated, turned to the left, profile, moustache and sideburns, wearing a breastplate, helmet with long plume hanging down the back, dark uniform, white leather gauntlets, and scarlet epaulettes, His sword leans against his left knee, both his hands on his knees. He is seated on his brown greatcoat, lined with white, which is also draped over his legs, blue cloudy sky.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
