Summary
Mahogany longcase clock, large cluster pillar uprights, triple arcaded door, inlaid frieze and borders, swan neck pediment with triple urn finials, surmounting 3 panels painted with pheasants, arcaded breakarch brass dial with painted lunar, strike, silent and musical movements, inscribed W. Leigh, Newton, c.1780. Chapter ring with Roman numerals, arabic five minute intervals, months and days of the month in arabic figures around outside. Centre of dial has a smaller dial at top inscribed with various tunes '104th Psalm, Butt'rd Peas, Shamboy, Sail'r Bold, God Save Ye King' Free Masons Jig, 1st of Aug'st', with engraved garlanded scrolls below 'That MAN is yet unborn who duly weighs an HOUR'. Chased ormolu spandrels around central dial. Half-moon above with hours and minutes on revolving dial decorated with two moon faces and two pastoral scenes, inscribed around outside edge 'The Moon is APOINTED for SEASONS'.Inscribed 'W. Leigh Newton' on two brass half moons above central dial. Pierced steel hour and minute hands, and a long plain month/date hand. Inscribed on ?backplate 'J. Odber Sil and Lac 1868' (silvered and lacquered). Moved to Tapestry Hall 2006.

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
