Summary
A green painted and parcel gilt half tester bedstead, French, late 18th century The headboard with scroll carved ears and foliate decoration, centred by a gilt frame with a Beauvais tapestry panel [catalogued as 516906] worked with exotic birds and plants and surmounted by a canopy with a breakfront moulded cornice centred by a three feather plume and with a solid lambrequin pendant apron. With an upholstered footboard, printed linen cover and valance. Mattress and mattress base.

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
