Summary
An oak canopied bed, Flanders, dated 1753. The head-board carved in low relief and with three octagonal panels flanked by primitive caryatids and with two sliding cupboard doors carved ANNO and 1753, flanking a panel carved COR DT HENRICH / CASPELHER / V-GEBINSHAUS. The foot-board with six plain panels and low relief carving on the uprights, surmounted by spiral-twist posts supporting the nine-panel roof canopy. The bed is shown in the castle in the Country Life photo (511941.2.28) of the South East Bedroom (now Staff Bedroom on CMS).
