Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Richard Vining Perry Ogilvie (1765-1834), attributed to Andrew Plimer (Wellington 1763 - Brighton 1837). Oval. c.1805. Head and shoulder portrait of a man turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, in a dark blue coat with black velvet collar, pink waistcoat, voluminous white knotted cravat. Blue eyes, grey powdered hair, pale complexion with bluish modelling. Cloud and sky background.
Provenance
Painted circa 1805. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to The National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
