Summary
Circular earthenware porringer, bulbous body tapering to a dome cover with finial, double handles. The cover is listed on a separate record (509517.2) White glazed interior, thick brown glaze to exterior. Impressed as a mark on the underside; “BENTHALL POTTERY Co BROSELEY”. Made circa 1900.
Provenance
Believed to have been made at the Benthall/Haybook Pottery in Broseley, Shropshire circa 1900. Purchased by James Holme Benthall and his wife Jill from a Mr Edmondson trading from Princess Street in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Given to the National Trust by James Holme Benthall and Jill Benthall in August 1995.
