Summary
Segmental supper dish, fan-shaped with everted flattened edge. Printed in underglaze blue with the 'Full Nankin' pattern, cellular border, and associated butterfly and diaper border around inner rim. Inscribed in the underglaze with a blue “S” on the underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by Caughley Porcelain Works. Part of a set of four, which together with a central dish comprised a 'Supper set' or 'Sandwich set' or 'Breakfast set' as they were sometimes called.
Provenance
Originally part of the Sir Paul Benthall collection. Bequeathed to the National Trust by Sir Paul Benthall; in will of July 1983. Appears in the Sotheby's 1993 Inventory p.3.
