Summary
Shell-shaped dessert dish, moulded scroll design to base, raised on foot ring. Decorated with Dresden flowers and border pattern in underglaze blue and gilt. Inscribed in the underglaze with a blue “S” printed on the underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
