Summary
Coffee can, blue border overlaid with gilt festoons, en-circling pattern of elongated daggers, series of overlapping loops within further band of alternate arrow-heads and dots repeated on handle. Gilt edge. With matching saucer. Inscribed - S (printed mark in underglaze blue on underside). 1775 - 1799 (circa), by Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to The National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
