Summary
This item is a leaf shaped pickle dish, with underside veining and raised on foot ring. It is printed in underglaze blue with the 'Fisherman' pattern, with an associated fleur-de-lys style and cellular border around inner rim. It is inscribed with an ‘S’ (printed mark in underglaze blue on underside). Made circa 1775 - 1799 by Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to The National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
