Summary
Fluted tea bowl saucer, scalloped rim and raised on foot ring, to the accompanying tea bowl (on separate record 509416.1). Printed in underglaze blue with the 'Temple' pattern with associated scale and floral border around inner rim. Inscribed with a blue “S” in a printed mark in underglaze on the underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by the Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
