Summary
Circular tea bowl saucer with scalloped rim and raised on foot ring for the accompanying tea bowl 509415.1 . Printed in underglaze blue with the 'Pagoda pattern' with associated border around inner rim, added gilding. Inscribed with a blue “S” printed mark in the underglaze on the underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by the Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
