Summary
Plain circular tea bowl saucer , raised on foot ring. Accompanying tea bowl is on record 509414.1. Printed in underglaze blue with the 'House and Fence' pattern, associated floral border around inner rim, gilt line borders. Inscribed with a blue “S” as a printed mark in the underglaze on the bowls underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by the Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
