Summary
Circular tea bowl, raised on foot ring, printed in underglaze blue with the 'Bandstand' pattern with associated cellular and floral border around inner rim. Matching saucer on separate record (509408.2) Group of borders to centre. Inscribed with an “S” as a printed mark in underglaze blue on underside. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by the Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
