Summary
Ice cup, bulbous body raised on small foot ring with a shaped rim. Printed in underglaze blue with the 'Full Nankin' pattern with secondary landscape on the reverse. On base a gold label with the following printed on “CAUGHLEY BICENTENARY SHREWSBURY 1772-1972”. In addition a red circular sticker with the number “109” printed on it. Made circa 1775 - 1799 by Caughley Porcelain Works.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to Tte National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
