Summary
Teabowl (saucer NT 509387.2), soft-paste porcelain, plain, raised on foot ring, printed in underglaze blue, with the so-called Bridge and Windmill pattern, shrub motif to centre, secondary landscape print to reverse of teabowl, cross-hatched border around inner rim of both, circa 1775 - 1799, Caughley Porcelain Works, Shropshire.
Provenance
Made in Shropshire circa 1775 - 1799. Owned by Sir Arthur Paul Benthall (1902 – 1992). Accepted in lieu of tax by H.M. Government in March 1993 following the death of Sir Arthur Paul Benthall in 1992 and allocated to the National Trust for display at Benthall Hall.
