Summary
This is one of a set of four small, urn-shaped pearlware sauce tureens with scalloped edges, gadrooned borders and double scroll handles. It has a dome cover (509375.9.6), complete with it. It has a transfer printed in blue and over enamelled with insects amongst flowering plants. Inscribed ‘ROGERS 4’ (impressed mark to underside of tureen), ‘Floral’ (transfer printed mark in a wreath of flowers in underglaze blue). Made circa 1820. Part of a larger 75 piece dinner service.
Provenance
Made in England circa 1820. Owned by Miss Phoebe and Miss Rosemary Waterfield and presented by them as a gift to the National Trust at Easter 1975, for display at Benthall Hall.
