Summary
These items are a set of four small urn-shaped pearlware sauce tureens with scalloped edges with gadrooned borders, double scroll handles and dome covers surmounted by gilt flowerhead finials. They are transfer printed in blue and over enamelled with insects amongst flowering plants. They are inscribed ‘ROGERS 20’ (impressed mark to underside of tureen) and ‘Floral’ (transfer printed mark in a wreath of flowers in underglaze blue). Made circa 1820. Part of larger 75 piece dinner service.
Provenance
Made in England circa 1820. Owned by Miss Phoebe and Miss Rosemary Waterfield and presented by them as a gift to the National Trust at Easter 1975, for display at Benthall Hall.
