Summary
This item is a large urn-shaped pearlware soup tureen. It has a scalloped edge with gadrooned borders, double scroll handles and dome cover surmounted by gilt flowerhead finial (509375.6.2). Transfer printed in blue and over enamelled with insects amongst flowering plants. Inscribed - Floral (transfer printed mark in a wreath of flowers in underglaze blue to underside of tureen and cover). Made circa 1820. Part of a 75 piece dinner service.
Provenance
Made in England circa 1820. Owned by Miss Phoebe and Miss Rosemary Waterfield and presented by them as a gift to the National Trust at Easter 1975, for display at Benthall Hall.
