Summary
A rectangular chair seat piece dated 1725-50, made from undyed, unbleached linen canvas worked in cross-stitch and embroidered with silk and wool (dyed to full range). Design of a red ground with floral pattern, central urn flanked by two vases with two teapots to the top with pink flower imbetween, all blue and white ceramics. Part of a set of upholstery for two open arm chairs.
Provenance
Breton-Tayler Collection. Given to the Trust by Mrs Winifred Breton Tayler, 11.4.2000, after remaining within the Breton family for nearly 300 years.
