Summary
A bed cover dated 1725-1750, made from undyed linen worked in cream silk flat quilting and embroidered with silks (dyed to full range) and gilt thread. To the centre a floral roundel of stems and flowers (rose, tulip and carnation) flanked by two monograms with the initials 'AB'. Four plant motifs to each corner and to the rest scattered motifs of a Chinese figure with parasol, birds, dragons, goats and unicorn. Two borders, one with leaves; the other with stems and flowers. (en suite with three pillow cases)
Provenance
Breton-Taylor Collection. Given to the Trust By Mrs Winifred Breton Taylor, 11.4.2000, after remaining within the Breton family for nearly 300 years.
