Summary
Six lead statues depicting ancient Greek and Roman figures; original to the house. A statue depicting Minerva (Genius of Lyme), a seated female figure wearing a long robe with drapery billowing over her left shoulder. Her right arm is extended holding a spear, her left arm is draped across her front supporting a cabochon bearing the Legh family badge of honour. A star hangs over her head and she is set between the open pediment over the frontispiece of the North Front.
Provenance
Original to the house. This statue was installed as part of an alteration to the North Front by Peter Legh XII (1669-1744). He added the lead statue of Minerva set in an open pediment over the frontispiece and encased the end bays. (taken from Lyme Park guide book, 2000 P.7)
