Summary
An early seventeenth century Italian, hexagonal carved marble well head with moulding to the base, mounted on two stone steps. Circular interior with two small pipe fittings built into the base. Each side has a moulded panel with a carved, raised Latin inscription; the third and sixth panels have a coat of arms with a bend (diagonal line) flanked by two dog's heads with collars.
Provenance
Original to the house. The well head was installed in the Edwardian period (1901-1910) by the Second Lord and Lady Newton. (stated on old inventory card)
