Lyme Hall is set against a cloudy sky with a tapering wall below, and underneath the wall, a grassy bank drops down into the Dutch garden with its central fountain. A male and a female figure stand in the garden, the woman wearing a red skirt and the man holding a walking stick and his left hand points to the right. A row of fountains line the right side and a large oak tree frames the scene to the right.
