Summary
Print, line engraving Mary Neville, Lady Dacre (1524-circa 1576) and her son Gregory Fiennes, 10th Baron Dacre (1539-1594) (after Hans Eworth, by George Vertue (London 1684 - London 1756). Three-quarter length portrait set in a frame with a curtain behind flanked by coat-of-arms and with a central cartouche. Female to the left, almost facing; dressed hair with cap and pearls. Wearing a ornately decorated jacket, lacy cuffs and ruff. Her ringed right hand holds a glove, which rests on a cushion; her ringed left hand holds onto the pearls hanging round her neck. Male on right almost facing with short hair wearing a fur-trimmed jacket, waistcoat, ruff and belt hung with sword; left hand resting in his waistcoat. Inscribed incorrectly as 'FRANCES DUTCHESS of SUFFOLK and her Husband ADRIAN STOKES Esq.'. The original is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, ,London
