Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Peter Legh IX (1563-1635) by British (English) School, 19th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of an elderly man, head facing slightly to right, with white hair, moustache and pointed grey beard, wearing a red/brown doublet trimmed with gold braid, with frills in front and five bows to the centre front, gorget with red scalloped cloth beneath. Transparent falling collar and cuffs. Belt and hangar with sword on his left. Standing, his right hand resting on red cloth-covered table/cushion and a red plumed helmet at his side. His left arm straight by his side. Drapery ? to top left corner, very dark background.
