Summary
An eight-day, spring clock with hour striking and quarter repeating in an ebony veneered case; made by Edward East. An ebony dome-top case with silver mounts and carrying handle and four silver-plated finials; glazed sides, standing on ebonised bun feet. Square brass dial with silver spandrels and silvered brass chapter ring with Roman numerals, engraved square calendar aperture in dial centre; blue steel hands.
Provenance
Bequeathed for display at Lyme Park by Major the Hon. Sir Francis Legh, on his death in 1984. Part of an important collection of clocks acquired by Major the Hon. Sir Francis Legh (1919-1984), the youngest son of the Third Lord Newton.
