Summary
An oak desk box, Westmorland, England, dated 1697. The fixed top board with line-moulded front and sides. The slope fitted with (later) iron hinges and with line-moulded edge enclosing an interior fitted with three pigeonholes and a divided raised shelf. The front board fitted with a decorative iron lockplate and carved with the initials 'CD', the date '1697', foliated scrolls and interlaced floral roundels.
