Summary
Tapestry, wool and silk, Border Fragment, Flemish, possibly Oudenaarde, c. 1600-1625. A strip of left hand tapestry border with a small section of upper border, including a second corner, sewn on. There are four related fragments in storage at Canons Ashby, nos. 494838.2-3 and 494835.1-2. This may once have been part of no. 494835.1, ‘An Enthroned King'.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust at the Canons Ashby Auction of Dryden Artefacts on the 4.7.1980 with 494838.2 and 494838.3 with the help of a grant from the Purchase Grant Fund.
